EXERPTS FROM ARTICLES
...rational reconstruction of the past in collages of the
"Stones" series ...easy to see how the past is idealized... (S.
Mazeikaite "7 Meno Dienos" 1994.07.01)
Elegant, historically nostalgic, sensitively feminine
objects of Arune Tornau interest me as the marks of self-expression
variation. (E. Lubyte "Literatura ir Menas" 1991.11.09)
Neverending duality of temporal and eternal... revealing the
state of of the universe formation... magic of colors and spectra.
(A. Dapkute "7 Meno Dienos" 1992.03.10)
The surfaces of old things, walls and trees interest the
painter because of relation to passing time, decay and dissociation.
These marks have a philosophic as well as a formal meaning. Uneven,
cracked object the artist values as especially pictorial. (I.
Antanaviciute "Lietuvos Rytas" 1995.01.20)
...she prefers a spacial character of color, a variety of
texture, a mumbling of half--tones, a mark hanging in an air, a
materialization of time... In the list of her exhibitions Sweden and
Germany leave Lithuania far behind. (V. Saviciunaite "Lietuvos
Rytas" 1996.11.19)
Arune has constant connection with Sweden, not only related
to the good sales of her work. Attraction to that country A. Tornau
explains as due to severe nature, cold landscape and huge sky. Weather,
coldness and ice affect also the colouring of her works which sometimes
looks really nordic. (B. Balinskaite "Verslo zinios", 1996.06.04)
In A. Tornau works the world falls into pieces which stick
together and become soaked matter in which sparkles only the sparks of
fading tints... A psychologic introspection is the most important for
A. Tornau, the most important paradigm is not a road, but rather a
window, an opening through which an internal as well as an external
cosmos are looked at. (A. Uzdavinys "Kauno Diena" 1996.11.16)
